Combat Boots in Charm City

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you all had a splendid weekend :) I took a trip to Maryland with my husband, David, to visit his family and we had a great time! It's nice to have these little trips to look forward to in the winter when the weeks tend to drag. It's fun to have in-laws in another state because it gives me a chance to explore a new city and it definitely brings us closer together.

This past Saturday we found ourselves at the Washington Monument...yes, there is one in Baltimore and one in DC! We were all a bit nervous to walk to the top since the stair case was pretty narrow, but the sight of the city from the top was beautiful! It was pretty cold that day, but that definitely got our blood pumping.

For our excursion, I opted for comfort and warmth. I didn't want to worry about freezing the whole time we walked around. My favorite high-waisted jean and one of my many thrifted Ralph Lauren sweaters were a perfectly appropriate combo. I added my new favorite leather jacket that David actually found for me at Savers! We were looking for artwork for our apartment and of course we had to wander over to the clothes. Knowing that I have been on the lookout for a leather jacket, he showed it to me in the women's outerwear section and I swear I heard angels singing in the distance. I am not kidding when I say this jacket is PERFECT. The leather is not too stiff and the collar and end of the sleeves are stretchy and warm. I looked at the price tag and I almost fainted: $9.99 AND it is an Urban Outfitters brand, Sparkle and Fade! I threw it into my cart immediately. Seriously, my husband is always my shopping good luck charm.

I finished off the look with my favorite hat and mittens from Land's End and my trusty vintage Dr. Martens. Let me tell you something about these boots: David LOATHES them. I have three pairs of Dr. Martens and he hates them all. Like gives me a death glare every time I wear them hates them. Seriously. I think it's a bit dramatic, and this is coming from me. Anyway, I love them so much and they have been to many concerts and other fun occasions with me, I could never give them up. Oh well, love me, love my shoes, right?
