Not-So-Mellow Yellow

Recently, it seems like the on-trend thing is to hate color, patterns, and anything deemed "fun". It feels like everyone wears and extols the virtues of black and gray clothing, loves minimalist style, and there is a serious lack of cheery accessories in street fashion. Well friends, if you're looking for that kind of style, maybe you should read no further. If anything, I am a self-appointed "maximalist". I think I own more patterned clothes than dependable solid colors. My jewelry toes the fine line between tasteful and tacky. And I adore anything in a color that gives people the most problems: yellow.

Yellow is the color that nobody thinks they look good in....but everyone is wrong. I don't think I've ever seen someone look bad in this color, it comes in so many shades that flatter so many skin tones: Mustard looks perfect with pale skin and have you ever seen a bright lemon hue look bad on darker skin? The answer is no! I'm not really sure how to describe the yellow I'm wearing today; canary might be the closest. I wear this sweater in winter, spring, and fall. The color just makes me smile. It is loose and cozy and I always get compliments on it.

Today, I wore this over top of a blue floral spaghetti strap mini dress that I got at Goodwill in Thorndale and my white Converse. I added a half ponytail, small silver hoop earrings, and glossy pink lips and I felt like I was back in the 90s. Not a bad way to start a gorgeous spring Monday.
