Is It Summer Yet?

Once I saw today's temperature was hitting 80 degrees, I knew it was time to bust out one of my dresses that I have been saving since the winter. That's always the worst part of buying clothes off season, you want to wear it NOW. I'm so glad that it's warming up so I can just throw on a dress and leave the house. I'm so over pants right now (even though I have some cute shorts I'm dying to wear). Let's talk about this little red number I'm wearing today.
The last time that my sister, Emily, came to visit me, I took her to all of my favorite local spots (and even discovered some new ones!) We started our day with a long hike and girl talk at Valley Forge. Then we went to a great local record store, called Vinyl Closet Records, and Emily made out like a bandit! It was pretty much heaven for a veteran record collector like herself. We then got a delicious smoothie for a snack from Gangster Vegan (neither of us are vegan, but how could you resist not trying out a restaurant with that name?) Finally, I took her to the Savers in East Norriton, where it happened to be a 50% off of everything day. We had a blast picking out frugal finds for each other! I always head right for the dresses, Emily went right for the men's t-shirt section, a trick I taught her because they always have the best graphic tees in the men's department, especially for music fans like us. I found this perfectly summery red and white floral sheath dress that I knew would be perfect for the warmer weather, especially since red is my happy color. It got Emily's seal of approval, and she even picked out another dress for me, a green one with white polka dots that I will most definitely be featuring on the blog this summer! She also had some great finds, including Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix tees. I'm so glad that I passed my love of thrifting on to her. It's such a fun way to spend time with her and it's always cool to see how she styles different pieces!
It's cool that I think of the fun day I had with my sister whenever I wear this dress. That's another great part about thrifting, there's always a story behind your outfit! I know today's post was more about this experience that I had rather than the styling of my outfit, but sometimes I think that' even more important. Everyone has at least one item of clothing that makes them sentimental. As a matter of fact, this dress is making me think it's about time to call up Em and schedule another sister's day out soon :)
