Polka Dots and Culottes

I 'member when gauchos were popular in the mid-2000s...and I have to say, it was a trend that I never took part in. I can recall them being totally hideous: girls would wear them with a Snooki-style poof, pointed kitten heels, and one of those layered tank-tee contraptions. I didn't think that I would ever be caught dead wearing pants like this...until I saw these pants at Salvation Army.
So fancy gauchos are called *culottes*, just so I don't sound like uncultured swine. I found these culottes at the Salvation Army in Montgomeryville. They are from the Forever 21 Contemporary collection, so I knew they were relatively new. I was intrigued by them because I have never owned a pair of pants like this before. Also...hello? They're polka-dotted! How could I resist? Whenever I go thrifting, I tend to pick out the more unique, crazy, or commonly known as ugly pieces because I like to see how I can style them. It's like a game to me. The best compliment is when people say that they would never think of wearing a certain thing that I have on.
I wore a basic but still detailed cream-colored top and added a little color on the bottom with some coral-colored Cole Haan sandals. I love this dressed up but still comfy and breezy look!
