Totally "Adult" Neutrals

Isn't it such bullshit that you're legally an adult at 18? Today I turn 26 and I definitely do not feel any more adult, even though I have gone through several adult "rites of passage": I moved out on my own, got married, have my own health insurance, etc. It's cliche, but age really is nothing but a number. I don't think it should hang over your head and dictate how you live your life, just like the size of your jeans shouldn't ruin your life either. If you think I'm going to stop liking Lisa Frank stickers, The Lego Movie, and the Baby-Sitters Club books just because I'm officially past my mid twenties, then you are seriously whacked. I aspire to be a badass older lady a la Iris Apfel and Betsy Johnson when I'm older and I think it's best to adopt that attitude toward age now.

If anything, I think I am more open-minded now than I have ever been, not just in things like style, but with approaching new experiences and meeting new people. Life really is too short to sit around and be bitter. I still am pretty cynical (I think that's just my sense of humor), but I definitely have eased up more in my attitude and just accept the situation at hand. I'm not perfect (never will be) and I most definitely slip up from time to time, but I really enjoy the person I have become.

So now that I have my reflection on 25 behind me, let's get to today's look. I kind of wanted to be cheeky and wear "adult" neutrals, but in a way that is fun. I usually stick with black and white as neutrals, but I'm loving the beiges and creams that I've paired with it. I wouldn't be wearing an outfit I totally love without a graphic tee, and this Led Zeppelin one is one of my favorites. I wore it with my printed maxi, leopard-print turban, and the coolest sandals I have ever found! Not a bad way to kick off a birthday.
