Basic Bitch: Office Edition

When I stumbled out of bed this morning to get dressed, I was feeling a bit uninspired. Today in southeastern PA is gray, overcast, and just blah in general. The temperature outside is that infuriating spring hybrid of warm enough to not wear tights, but still too cool to not wear a sweater. So what did I decide to wear today? The office version of basic bitch wear: a pencil skirt, heels, and a cardigan. And you know what? I'm not even mad about it. Sometimes you just need to go back to the basics (no pun intended) once in a while to get your creative juices flowing again.
My favorite part of this look today is of course the mod-print sleeveless Calvin Klein top. I adore anything with yellow in it and I just thought the pattern on this blouse was so different, I had to have it. Again, WHY is everyone sleeping on Calvin Klein?! You can read about my feelings toward Mr. Klein in this post. I just don't understand why I find so much of his designs while thrifting because the style and craftsmanship is A+.
I wore this top with my favorite black pencil skirt and my trusty cream Jones New York cardigan. Vintage pearl earrings and Mary Janes topped off this "old faithful" of an outfit. Seriously, if you don't know what you want to wear to work, a pencil skirt will always do in a pinch. Always remember: the classics don't always have to be so stuffy! Just add fun details and your style will always come through.
